Wage: $18 / hour to start.

Banff Sunshine’s Ski Patrol Department is planning its spring hiring clinics for Winter 2024-2025 and we seek Ski Patrollers with masterful skiing ability. As well as the ability to work well with team members, exceptional customer service skills, and love working outdoors in the beautiful Canadian Rockies. For this year, we will be hosting it on Saturday, April 13th and Sunday, April 21st. Meanwhile, this half-day session comprises assessing skiing ability, first aid knowledge, and other patrol duties.
As a Ski Patroller, the requirements include the following. Scroll down!
- Be physically fit.
- Professional skiing ability.
- Valid First Aid certificate, minimum 80 hours, (EMR preferred) with Basic Life Support certification or equivalent training.
- Be available from late October through the end of May.
Skills And Attributes Of A Ski Patroller
As a ski patroller, you may need the following skills and attributes to be successful. Scroll down!
- Physical Stamina: The ski patroller’s job role can be physically demanding since you will be on your feet for most of your shift. Therefore, it’s essential to have good physical stamina so you can meet these demands and keep yourself and your customers safe.
- Communication: You must be proficient in your communication skills as a ski patroller. This way, you will be able to offer instructions, guidance, and advice to customers. In addition, you can make use of these skills to collaborate with your team members even more effectively.
- Problem Solving: If any issue arises on the slope, such as a tree branch in the middle of a trail, you will be in charge of resolving it independently. By using your problem-solving skills, you’ll be able to assess the issue and determine the best way to resolve it.
However, we will give preference to individuals who have:
- Prior ski patrol experience.
- Prior ski resort experience.
- Prior outdoor work experience in a team environment.
- As well as Avalanche Skills Training certificate and/or Canadian Avalanche Association Certifications.
- Mountaineering / Back country travel experience.
- In addition, Rope management experience.
- Also, knowledge of Banff Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort.
